This project is a revision of a gift I recently received from one of my stamping friends in Oregon. 



I loved it so much that I decided to create my own version.

This is another one of the projects that my friend from Colorado and I worked on last weekend. 

This box could easily fit 4-6 cards with envelopes.  It opens from the back, which I really like...and is clear in the front (window sheet) which allows a peek at the cards inside.

We had so much fun playing with the Baby Blossoms stamp set and the Springtime Vintage Designer Series Paper from the OCCASIONS MINI CATALOG!

Decor Elements "WELCOME" Project!

This past weekend a good friend of mine from Colorado came to visit me!

We spent a few days creating projects...we had an awesome time!

So, for the next few days, I am going to share some of the projects we worked on.
This project started out with the Large "Welcome" Decor Element in Black (117570).  You can find this item on page 30 of the 2010-2011 Definitely Decorative Catalog by Stampin’ Up!®






I cut apart the letters and adhered them to card stock, so I could trim and embellish them easier.

And, I just had to create my sign with the LOVE LETTER DESIGNER SERIES PAPER (117162)...It is one of my favorite designer papers!

I love the fact that I can move my "WELCOME" sign anywhere as opposed to it being permanently placed on the wall!

 
I have also included my friend's finished sign below.  I love the combination of the warm colors with a variety of textures created with tearing, sponging, etc.

This project features the Botanical Gazette Designer Series Paper located on page 26 of the Occasions Mini Catalog.

Oh Sew Suite Sewing Kit!

This line has a FUN color palette with wonderfully bright colors!

Today, I want to share a sewing kit that I created featuring some of the products from the "Oh Sew Suite" line.

The box is created with TWO #2 Box die cuts placed back to back with the top of the boxes becoming the handle.


TIP #1
To create the pin cushion, I cut a piece of card stock to fit across the box just below the handle opening.  Run a strip of sticky strip along the top and gather a piece of Sweet Stitches Designer Fabric using the sticky strip to keep in place.

TIP #2
The tag and index tabs were created in Word and printed on Very Vanilla Card Stock and then punched out.
TIP #3
The thread sampler was created using a piece of Very Vanilla Card Stock.  Punch the sides with the Scallop Edge Punch and wrap thread.Tip #4
To create the bow at the top of the box, cut a strip of the Sweet Stitches Designer Fabric and fray the edges by pulling strands of thread from the ends of the fabric.  Tie around the handle.

It's all about the MASK!

 It has been a long time since I used the "MASKING" technique on a project...Here is a card that showcases this technique.

I am providing step-by-step instructions for those of you who have never tried it or it has been awhile for you too.


"MASKING" allows you to stamp multiple images creating the illusion the one image is in the background of another image.

For example, the flowers/leaves image appears to be behind the bird...Here's how to accomplish this look:

STEP #1:

Stamp the image you want to mask on a Post-it Note making sure that a portion of the stamped image will pick up some of the sticky from the back when it is cut out. 

STEP #2:

Cut the image out and then stamp the image again on whatever card stock you plan to use for your project.

STEP #3:

Place the mask over the stamped image.  Now you are ready to stamp your background images.




STEP #4:

Remove the mask to reveal a wonderfully dimensional stamped image.

NOTE:  I save my "mask" in the stamp case for future use.

Buttons Without Bulk, Continued...

Yesterday I shared a card featuring embossed buttons from the Button, Button stamp set featured on Page 34 of the Stampin’ Up!® Occasions Mini Catalog.

Today, I wanted to share some other button ideas...I wanted to achieve the shiny look of a button without the bulk.  It is super simple!

I stamped a variety of button images from the Button, Button stamp set on to Whisper White card stock.




I inked my brayer with VersMark ink and rolled over my button images.

I heat embossed the images with clear embossing power.  The result was cute, shiny buttons without the bulk!

Tip #1:  To stamp several buttons at once, I used the Acrylic I Block.  Line several button stamps up in a row and mount to the block.  Ink with Stampin' Write Markers and then stamp on a strip of Whisper White card stock:

Tip #2:  There are tons of alternatives to thread for the center of buttons;  Basic Rhinestones or Pearls, 1/8" Taffeta Ribbon, thin pieces of card stock or try using the fine tip of a Stampin' Write Marker to draw a line connecting the holes to create a faux button center.

Tip #3: Did you know that most of the button images in the Button, Button stamp set can be punched with the 1/2", 3/4", 1" Circle Punches or the Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack.

Buttons Without Bulk

I have been having a ton of fun playing with the BUTTON, BUTTON stamp set featured on Page 34 of the Stampin’ Up!® Occasions Mini Catalog.

I LOVE to incorporate buttons into my card and scrapbook creations, however I don't care for the extra bulk they add, which can result in extra postage for cards and extra bulk in an album...So, the BUTTON, BUTTON set allows me to have buttons without the bulk.  Yipee!

For this card, I decided to create an elegant embossed look which is easy to accomplish with a mixture of heat embossing and the SWEET BUTTONS Embosslit which is also located in the Occasions Mini Catalog.
